Today, I spotted a few leaked images of the Honor Magic V5, and to be honest, I don't like the way the images make me feel. I thought that it'd be a couple of years before I seriously considered buying a foldable, but looking at how good the Magic V5 looks, I'm not so sure anymore. It might be the sexiest foldable I've ever seen.
And besides the fact that the next foldable from the Chinese OEM will have such an impressive design, it is also set to break records in foldable thinness, as it promised it would. Today, we've finally gotten the first official mention of its most important measurement, and yes, it will be better than the Oppo Find N5 in that regard.
The Honor Magic V5 Is an Insanely Good-Looking Smartphone

In the earliest days of my love for Android, manufacturers were trying new things in terms of smartphone design, and I think that provided a lot of really unique devices. However, for the last few years, things have stagnated to some degree, and I rarely see phones that I consider to be exceptionally good-looking.
Interestingly, the last phone that really caught my eye in terms of its design was the Honor Magic 6 Pro. Now, it seems that the same OEM will be the one to get an identical accolade from me, because the Honor Magic V5 is such a beautiful device, thanks to leaked images from Digital Chat Station.

Besides the fact that it is incredibly thin, the gold colorway is a plus in every manner. The hinge has an artistic triangular pattern all over it, and the back panel adopts a metallic-looking and wavy pattern. The camera module looks elegant too. Sure, there'll be other colorways most likely, and while I think they'll look good, I don't think they'll look better than this one does.
The Device Will Measure Only 8.8mm When Closed, Making It the Thinnest Foldable Yet

A device that's too thick loses some points on usability, and who cares how good-looking a device is if it is too difficult to wield? That's why foldables have been chasing thinness. While the race won't go on forever (and is likely close to reaching equilibrium), it is exciting to witness.

Honor has claimed that the Magic V5 will reclaim its crown as the thinnest foldable that you can buy, and it looks like that claim will actually pan out. According to Honor itself, the Magic V5 will measure only 8.8mm when closed, which marginally beats out the Oppo Find N5, the current king in that regard.
Here's a Good Idea of the Spec Sheet of the Upcoming Foldable From Honor

Thanks to Digital Chat Station on Weibo and TechHome100 on X, we have a very solid idea about a lot of the spec sheet for the Honor Magic V5, and as expected, it will deliver flagship specs despite the extra-slim design. Here's a glimpse at all the specs that we know as of now:
| Honor Magic V5 | |
| Processor | Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version (4.47GHz) |
| Cover Display | 6.45 inches, 120Hz |
| Inner Display | 7.95 inches, 120Hz, 2K resolution |
| Storage Variants | 12/256GB, 16/512GB, 16GB/1TB; UFS 4.1 |
| Rear Cameras | 50MP main + 50MP periscope telephoto + 50MP ultrawide |
| Battery | 6,100mAh |
| Charging | 66W wired, 50W wireless |
| Dimensions | Folded Thickness: 8.8mm; Weight: 217g |
| Weather Resistance | IP68/IP69 |

These leaked specs indicate a device that will be able to compete with plenty of regular slab phones as a flagship. However, there's one thing that makes this device extremely notable, especially as a foldable, and that's its IP certification. We've seen foldables go up to IP48, famously struggling with dust, but it seems Honor's claim will be that its Magic V5 handles the elements as well as any other phone. We'll see about that soon.
