The older you get, the more conscious you are of how your body responds to rest and how it rebels when it doesn’t get enough. Thankfully, there are many devices that exist to monitor those areas where you're slacking on healthcare.

Samsung’s new One UI 8 Watch beta software especially introduces many refinements to that effort. Not all Galaxy Watches can get in at the moment, but its newest features bring many benefits to users who qualify.

Watch 4 left out of Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch Beta

The One UI 8 Watch update is coming to Samsung’s newer lineup, including Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic, Watch FE, as well as Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. These are the devices Samsung has chosen to bring into the beta program, and likely the first to get the full release when it rolls out officially.

What's odd about the release is that the Galaxy Watch 4, which marked Samsung’s return to Wear OS a few years ago, is being left out of the beta. The device runs the same processor as the Watch 5 and launched with specifications that were nearly identical in core performance. It should be able to run One UI 8 Watch without any major issues.

It may be that Samsung is prioritizing newer sensor technologies, especially for experimental features. They haven't officially said the Watch 4 won’t get the stable and global update version. So, there’s still a good chance that it’s among eligible devices.

One UI Watch 8 features keep you healthier

One UI 8 Watch brings a fresh layer of intelligence to your wrist with Bedtime Guidance at the center. Bedtime Guidance is a new feature that reads your sleep pressure and circadian rhythm over the last three nights, then recommends when you should actually go to bed.

As someone with dark eye circles that could pass for contour, I know exactly how useful this feature is. More importantly, not many people even know the circadian rhythm is a real biological clock, and that they need to take necessary steps to keep it on track.

Another interesting feature Samsung is introducing is Vascular Load, a more technical but important measurement. It looks at how much stress your blood vessels experience during sleep to give you an idea of how deeply your body is resting or struggling to.

If you run, the Running Coach feature is your personal motivator. It adapts based on your ability and gives real-time guidance, pacing strategies, and structured plans for races from 5Ks to marathons.

Finally, the Antioxidant Index feature literally reads the carotenoids stored in your skin in five seconds. Carotenoids are antioxidants you get from fruits and vegetables. If your levels are low, the watch reflects that. If you’ve been eating better or not, you'll know.
