The Samsung Galaxy S24 family of flagship smartphones launched at the very start of the year. Of course, considering how much of a veteran Samsung is in the flagship smartphone segment, it's no surprise that the devices hit all the right spots.

Since we're about to enter the last quarter of the year, Samsung felt like a good farewell present for us would be the Fan Edition version of that series. Today, the South Korean manufacturer has made the Galaxy S24 FE official, bringing a fat-free version of the S24 at a lower price.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Brings The Same Sweet Design And Just Slightly Undercut Specs

Samsung's Fan Edition devices have always aimed to deliver plenty of S series value at a price that's more accessible to all true Samsung fans. The S24 FE arguably does the same this year, though compared to last year, the price goes up a tad. Let's see if it still delivers enough.

The Design

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE might come at a lower price than the full-fat Galaxy S24, but one thing that you're not going to have to compromise on is that design. You get the same flat screen, flat glass back, flat aluminum frame, and vertically oriented camera setup. It also maintains its IP68 certification.

Size-wise, it's more like the S24+ than the S24 thanks to a larger screen. If you've got a keen eye, you'll be able to differentiate it from the S24+ though. That's because, with the exception of the black model, the other colors are accented with silver for the frame and camera rims. The regular S24 models use the same color as the phone for the accents.

The S24 FE is available in Graphite, Gray, Blue, Yellow, and Mint colorways.

The Screen

You can always trust Samsung screens to be great, so don't expect any different here. You get a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which is Samsung speak for a 120Hz display.

It's the same size as the Galaxy's S24+'s screen, but it is clearly a different display unit since it has a lower peak brightness of 1,900 nits, only FHD+ resolution, and no LTPO tech.

The Internal Hardware

Inside the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, you'll have the Exynos 2400e in the engine room. Depending on where you get an S24 or S24+, you might get the Exynos 2400, but the 2400e is an underclocked version of that chip, so performance should be slightly worse but likely still flagship grade. There's a vapor chamber in place too, for the gamers in the crowd.

The phone comes with 8GB of RAM which you can pair with either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage, so there are quite a few options in that regard.

The Battery And Charging

If you like phones with some longevity away from the charger, the S24 FE boasts a 4,700 mAh. It's a bit of a downgrade compared to the similarly-sized S24+ which managed to fit a 4,900 mAh battery in, but we know that corners have to be cut in some spots. At least you get the same 25W charging that Samsung refuses to let go of, and 15W wireless charging.

The Cameras

Now, a lot of people are likely wondering whether they can expect the same great camera performance from the S24 FE as they can from the other S24 models. The answer to that is, sort of.

Your main camera is still a 50MP wide unit with OIS, which seems to be the same module as on the S24 and S24+, so that's great. The 12MP ultrawide seems to remain the same too. However, the 3x telephoto gets downgraded to an 8MP sensor, but at least OIS hangs around.

On the front of the phone, expect your selfies to be slightly inferior too since it'll be a lower-end 10MP sensor doing the work. Samsung's AI-powered ProVisual Engine should do some heavy lifting to bring the quality up though.

The Software

Galaxy AI is on a lot of Samsung phones but not all of them manage to get the full suite of features, especially when they're a little underpowered. No need to worry about that here, as the Galaxy S24 FE gets all the Galaxy AI features that have been shoved in our faces. That means Interpreter, Live Translate, Composer, Note Assist, Generative Edit, Portrait Studio, Circle to Search, and more.

The device comes running One UI 6.1 and Android 14, and the good thing is that you get seven years of OS updates and security updates, so the S24 FE is living the flagship lifestyle.
