The Samsung Galaxy S24 devices hop on the big trend of the moment — AI — and it is one of the best reasons to go for the smartphones, beyond the fact that they are simply excellent all around. But what if you're on the fence and you're not sure whether Galaxy AI alone is worth forking over your hard-earned money?

Well, you might not have known, but there's an app called Try Galaxy, and it lets you test out new features exclusive to Samsung smartphones. It used to be available for iOS users, but now all Android users can give it a shot too, and decide whether Galaxy AI will make ditching their current daily driver worth it.

Give Galaxy AI A Test Run On Your Android Smartphone

Samsung didn't shy away from letting us know about Galaxy AI before the S24 phones launched, and the event itself talked about these artificial intelligence features — or Advanced Intelligence, as Samsung calls it — a whole lot.

If you don't want to buy an S24 yet and you don't have any of the other Galaxy devices that will eventually receive Galaxy AI features, but you still want to test Samsung's AI experience, you can actually do that. It all comes down to using the Try Galaxy app, which is basically like a stripped-down emulation of One UI 6.1.

All you have to do is visit trygalaxy.com or scan the QR code in the link here. Once on the page, the instructions will tell you to click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of the Chrome app and choose “Install app” or “Add to home screen”. Install the application and you'll be ready to test AI features like Live Translate, Circle to Search, Chat Assist, and more.

So, you can try out five Galaxy AI features in Try Galaxy: Live Translate, Note Assist, Chat Assist, Photo Assist, and Circle to Search. While Galaxy AI extends beyond just these features, these are some of the major ones. Let's briefly highlight what each one does:

  • Live Translate: If you're on a phone call with someone who speaks another language, your Galaxy smartphone can translate the other person's language into one you understand, and do the exact same thing for them if they don't understand your language. It does this all in real-time within the Phone app.
  • Note Assist: The notes you take can be summarized in seconds, you can get templates made to fit the notes you take, and it can even make nice covers that give you a quick preview of each of your notes.
  • Chat Assist: Ever had trouble getting the right tone across in your text message? With the tap of a button, you can tap to reword your message as polite, light-hearted, and so on.
  • Photo Assist: Features like Generative Edit can help you shift subjects in photos, remove objects you don't like, and straighten a picture, with AI filling things in where there should have been gaps. There are also one-tap buttons like Remaster, Colorize, and Background Blur which can change photos in a snap.
  • Circle to Search: You must have heard of this by now, but by long-pressing the Home button, you can circle around (or scribble on or highlight) any object on your screen that you want Google to help you search or identify.

The Try Galaxy App was originally intended by Samsung to give iPhone users a taste of the Samsung software experience and woo them over to the Android side of business. But Samsung has widened its scope so that anyone can try things out.

The app also lets you learn more about the Galaxy ecosystem and supports 20 languages, so it really is built to bring people over to the Galaxy experience.
