I think I've said it before, but releasing new colorways for a smartphone or a wearable provides a brand with the opportunity to refresh the attention that the product might slowly be losing and get it back in front of potential customers.
Today's exhibit is the OnePlus Buds Pro, launched back in 2021. These buds have just gotten a new shiny colorway called Radiant Silver, and as long as that finish manages to keep up through the daily wear and tear of earbuds, this might be one of the best colorways I've seen on anything.
The OnePlus Buds Pro Get All Chromed Out With The Radiant Silver Colorway
The OnePlus Buds Pro came out in 2021, as OnePlus' first attempt at making premium buds, and as far as I know, they were received rather well. When it comes to the core things that make earbuds great, like sound quality, battery life, and ANC, these buds were able to tick all those points quite boldly.
If you tried to get the OnePlus Buds Pro just a few days ago, you had the option of getting them in a black or a white colorway. Nothing too exciting, really. But now, there's a third colorway available for these buds, called Radiant Silver, and it is honestly quite a looker, standing out from the crowd in quite a showy manner. The finish is applied to both the buds and the charging case.
It's called Radiant Silver, but a more descriptive name might have simply been “Chrome”. This OnePlus Buds Pro colorway brings them in a very shiny silver that's absolutely gorgeous. The only thing is that I'm not quite sure how this kind of reflective finish might survive against scratches and knocks, as it looks like a finish that might find itself easily marred by imperfections.
The OnePlus Buds Pro Might Be A Little Dated At This Point, But They're Great
Despite being about three years old at this point, don't let that sour your stance on the OnePlus Buds Pro, because they're still fantastic earbuds up till today, and no, I'm not finding myself swayed by the awesome new colorway that's been introduced.
These earbuds have 11mm dynamic drivers and LHDC codec support, which come together for great sound. There's active noise cancelation to block out the noise from the outside world, whether that's traffic or the loud drone of an airplane. You also find yourself with Dolby Atmos support and IP55 weather resistance. Plus, paired with the sleek charging case, you get yourself 38 hours of battery life out of these, and that's great. To be honest, anything over a full day of playback is impressive.
You also get OnePlus' fast charging, which means a 10-minute charge will give you 10 hours of playback time. There's even wireless charging in the mix as well. The best part is that since these have been released for quite some time now, and even have a sequel now, you can get them for a lot cheaper than you would have at launch time.
