At this point, whether we like it or not, AI is the future. If things don't take a turn for Skynet-esque consequences, then we're going to have a good time with artificial intelligence in our lives (though it does seem like literally everyday now that some company or the other is pushing AI news in our faces).
Samsung's Galaxy AI was a major part of its Samsung Unpacked event at the start of the year and it's been finding its way to more than just the Samsung Galaxy S24 as the year has been progressing. This time, it's about to break out of the smartphone cage and find its way to smartwatches, through One UI 6 Watch.
Samsung Hopes To Use Galaxy AI And Your Health Data For More Holistic Insights
One major advantage of AI in consumer-facing software is that it is able to “think” answers or solutions to scenarios that might not have been pre-programmed. After all, there's only so much that developers can account for when coding. When it comes to health metrics, the number of combinations of values that can be had makes AI a good addition. That's why it is nice that Samsung is introducing it in One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5.
For instance, one major aspect that Samsung wants to use AI is to provide better and more actionable insights into the health data that your smartwatch picks up. Samsung Health is the hub for your health metrics and with Galaxy AI, you'll be able to get better advice on what you might be able to do better as well as motivation to push you to do the things you're already doing better.
The introduction of Energy Score will be able to give you an idea on your general health condition for the day. It is expected to do this by combining relevant health metrics like sleep time average, sleep time consistency, previous day activity, sleeping heart rate, and more, in order to provide a score out of 100.
Wellness Tips are another new addition, and it is pretty self-explanatory. It'll give you different insights, pieces of advice, and guidance to make it easier for you to hit whichever goal you've indicated you're heading for. This might be to lose weight, be more active, gain muscle, etc. Samsung is also intending to refine its AI algorithms for more accuracy. For instance, the Sleep AI algorithm, so you should get better sleep insights.
The Galaxy Watch 7 Series Will Be The First To Launch With One UI 6 Watch and Galaxy AI
One UI 6 Watch is going to bring new metrics like Aerobic Threshold (AT) / Anaerobic Threshold (AnT) Heart Rate Zone and Functional Threshold Power (FTP). A new Race feature will let you easily compare past and current performance on the same route.
One UI 6 Watch is expected to launch in July with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 smartwatches, and it should be trickling down to some older smartwatches too, starting with access to the beta program in June.
