There are a lot of brands you should consider if you're looking to get a lot of power for the lowest price possible, and Realme is one of them. This Chinese manufacturer makes very solid devices, and just today, they've unveiled their latest one: the Realme GT Neo 6 SE. The specs are great, but the starting price is the real shock, so let's talk about it.
The Realme GT Neo 6 SE Comes To Market With One Of Qualcomm's New Chips Under The Hood
The Realme GT Neo 6 SE is the first device released by the Chinese manufacturer in the Neo 6 family, and it is expected to be followed up by the GT Neo 6, which will be a higher-end device. But I think seeing the GT Neo 6 SE first was a good choice because as the foundational phone in the series, it brings a lot to the table, so let's talk about it.
The Design
The Realme GT Neo 6 SE has a minimal but classy design. I hardly need to say it anymore in 2024 but the front is just the screen and a selfie camera cutout. The back panel is glossy, though it is not quite clear yet whether it's made of plastic or glass. In its segment, glass would be an interesting choice though.
The back has two vertically stacked circular camera modules at the upper-left edge of the back panel, with a third smaller module to the right in the space between them. That one holds the flash modules. A horizontal stripe darker than the rest of the body runs edge to edge and around these modules. The device is also IP65 dust and weather-resistant. It is available in green and silver colorways.
The Screen
The display on this phone is impressive. It is curved on the left and right sides and is a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a max refresh rate of 120Hz and a max resolution of 1264 x 2780. Realme claims that the panel is capable of hitting 6,000 nits of peak brightness when watching HDR content, which might be the highest number I've seen for any smartphone. There's a fingerprint scanner under the screen.
The Hardware
This phone runs on Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip, which is a great option for a device that's intended to be a capable mid-ranger. The phone comes with several storage options, including 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 16GB/256GB, and 16GB/512GB at the very top. All options have UFS 4.0 storage.
You'll get a huge 5,500 mAh cell that can be juiced up with Realme's 100W SuperVOOC charging, which should give you a 50% charge in just 12 minutes.
The Cameras
The Realme GT Neo 6 SE has a total of three cameras. The selfie snapper is a 32MP lens capable of recording at up to 4K/30. The fun is on the backside though, with a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide. You'll be able to record 4K/60 with the main lens, and even FHD at 120fps.
The Pricing
Now, the pricing. Considering all the specs that were listed above, how much would you guess that the Realme GT Neo 6 SE starts at? The top model, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage costs only $345. Yep. The base model shaves off an entire Benjamin and will only set you back $248. This is an incredibly affordable device for what it brings to the table — UFS 4.0 storage, 100W charging, a massive battery, a new Qualcomm chip, and a high-end display.
I'll be watching this one closely, and hopefully, it gets an international launch, as it is currently only available in China.
