Onyx BOOX Tab X

Onyx Boox has unveiled its new A4-sized Tab X ePaper Tablet PC which merges the capabilities of an Android tablet with an e-reader. Complete with the Play Store, Tab X is designed for reading. taking notes with the included stylus and boasts a dedicated GPU which makes the refresh experience ultra-smooth and responsive.

The first thing to note is that this isn't your average e-reader or tablet, the Tab X sports the BOOX Super Refresh technology which, thanks to the dedicated GPU, offers four new refresh modes which are tailored towards reading, note-taking, and using apps on the ePaper display.

Powered by an octa-core processor from Qualcomm with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Tab X also has a G sensor for auto-rotation purposes.

The A4-sized HD Mobius display is 13.3 inches big with a 2200 x 1650 resolution, 207ppi, and features a front light with warm and cold options. There is also support for the Magnetic Pen2 Pro Stylus (included in the box) with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The Tab X supports dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, and packs in a 6,300mAh battery which can be charged via the USB-C port. You'll also find dual speakers and a built-in microphone present on the Tab X which runs Android 11. The Tab X weighs in at 560g and is just 6.8mm thick, making it 1.1mm thinner than its predecessor.

More than just an e-reader

Sure, you can install Amazon's Kindle app and other reading apps on the Tab X but it's also a productivity powerhouse thanks to it running on Android which gives it access to the Play Store. You can perform tasks such as mark up recordings, take notes by typing or with the included stylus, and add footnotes to documents.

The Tab X is available now in the official BOOX ShopAmazon, and Amazon UK at $879.99 / €949.99, the same price level as its predecessor Max Lumi2 but with a massively upgraded performance for users to achieve an outstanding level of productivity.
