Having managed to snag 3rd place in the US smartphone market, Motorola would appear to be pulling out all the stops during 2022 with up to 19 new handsets scheduled for release this year. With up to 4 more models in the Motorola Edge series, plus another 15 handsets in the pipeline according to a leaked roadmap, Motorola isn't messing around.
The leaked roadmap comes courtesy of Evan Blass via 91Mobiles and with “Part 1” revealing that we can expect four Motorola Edge series phones with codenames Frontier, Miami, Dubai, and Dubai Plus. We've already seen rumors of the Frontier sporting a massive 200MP main camera which is expected to make its debut sometime during Q3 of 2022. Dubai is the model that will reportedly launch soonest, packing in a 6.55-inch FHD+ display with 144Hz refresh rate, dual 50MP cameras with a 2MP depth sensor in support, plus a rather average-sized 4,020mAh battery.
The Dubai Plus will be powered by an as-yet-unknown processor from MediaTek and feature a more substantial battery (5,000mAh) as well as support for stylus input. There's no word as yet whether the stylus will be housed internally or externally, but the Dubai Plus may launch in the same quarter as the Frontier.
Finally, the Miami is said to be scheduled to launch sometime between now and September with a small(er) 6.28-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 695, which means it's probably a ‘Lite' edition of the Edge Plus. This theory is backed up by the alleged presence of a 64MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 4,020mAh battery which is smaller than what we are used to in 2022 but then it is a smaller phone which is said to be no more than 7mm thick. It's also reported that the Miami will carry 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.
As for the other 15 handsets present on the roadmap we are probably waiting for Evan Blass to release “Part 2” in the coming weeks, but it's likely that it will feature models in the Moto G and Moto E ranges.
