It's taken a while but the Peacock app is finally available to install on Amazon's Fire TV and Fire Tablets, bringing the ability to watch on-demand movies and shows, sports, and live news to users in the US.
Besides the Peacock app, NBCUniversal's 15 network apps are also being added to the mix, bringing content from NBC, Bravo, NBS News, NBC Sports, and Telemundo to Fire TV and Fire tablets users who are subscribed to either the $4.99 ad-supported Premier tier or the ad-free tier that costs $9.99 monthly. The Peacock app is compatible with the entire Fire TV product line including the Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Smart TV, and Fire TV Cube.
“Peacock has built an engaging streaming library that we know Fire TV customers will enjoy,” said Daniel Rausch, Vice President of Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services. “By pairing Peacock with Fire TV, our joint customers will be able to use Alexa and personalized recommendations to rediscover some of the world’s most-loved sitcoms, watch all-new shows like Girls5Eva, and follow Olympic highlights – all from one service. Alexa, watch Peacock.”
As you can read from the blurb above, the Peacock app can also be opened by commanding Alexa to open the app. Full Alexa integration scheduled to roll out later this year, allowing users to search for content and browse Peacock's full catalog of content via voice command.
