LG shuttered its mobile division a few months back which resulted in the cancellation of a number of upcoming handsets, including the Rollable and the Velvet 2 series. While some LG employees were able to purchase the unreleased devices, they will never go on general sale. For those that are curious about the LG Velvet 2 Pro, an unboxing video of the smartphone has been posted on YouTube which shows off what could have been.
The unboxing video comes courtesy of a Korean YouTube channel called Phonehub via @FrontTron, giving us a better look at what the Velvet 2 Pro would have brought to the table. Sporting a similar rear panel design as its predecessor, the Velvet 2 Pro has shifted to a punch-hole to house the selfie camera as opposed to the notch that was present on the previous model. There's no audio jack to be found, and the volume rocker has been replaced by pressure pads.
The Snapdragon 888-powered Velvet 2 Pro would have been an actual flagship instead of using a mid-range processor such as the Snapdragon 765 chip that the original Velvet was powered by. Accompanying the chip are 8GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, along with a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. An in-display fingerprint sensor is present, as is a 4,500mAh battery. The rear cameras consist of a 64MP main camera, an ultra-wide-angle lens, as well as a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
There's no telling how much the Velvet 2 Pro would have retailed for, but considering that the original Velvet was around the $699 mark it's likely that it would have been around around $1,000. Not that it matters now, of course.
