Spotify Greenroom

You can blame Clubhouse for every tech brand trying to jump on the chatty app bandwagon, we've already seen Twitter with its Spaces feature and now Spotify has decided to announce its own clone version of the app which is called Greenroom for some reason.

“…the Greenroom feature will “delight creators and listeners everywhere”

So, what can you do with Spotify Greenroom? Well, according to the press release you can:

  • Join a group
  • Search for upcoming rooms
  • Join a room
  • Create a room
  • Presumably, you can talk
  • Or you could choose to just listen

It all sounds terribly exciting, and you'll be jumping out of your skin when you learn that the Spotify Greenroom app includes the following features:

  • New app branding (aka Greenroom) and a new overall look and feel
  • The ability for any user to host or participate in live rooms
  • A way to join Greenroom using your Spotify log-in info
  • A new onboarding experience that puts users’ interests front and center
  • Recording capabilities so you can complement your on-demand content with live conversations
  • Chat controls to ensure the best possible experience

If you want to give the Spotify Greenroom app a whirl we've embedded the Play Store link for it below. I guess at least Spotify isn't making Android users wait almost a year to gain access to the app, which is something but I'd rather that Spotify used its resources to improve audio quality and its UI.
