Having been exclusively available to iOS users since it made its debut in March 2020, Clubhouse is finally beta-testing its Android app. Don't get too excited just yet because the Android app is only available to users based in the US at this time before rolling out to other English-speaking markets in the “days and weeks ahead”.

Updated May 13th: If you're based in Canada and you've been waiting patiently for Clubhouse to make its Android app available in the country, you can rejoice because today is the big day. The Clubhouse app will launch in Canada and unspecified ‘additional English-speaking markets' from 12PM EST today, and you can download the Android app directly from the Play Store below:

Coming some 14 months after launching exclusively on iOS, Clubhouse has left it late to give access to the chat audio app to Android users seeing as Twitter Spaces has rolled out globally to users of iOS and Android who have more than 600 followers. Both Facebook and Spotify are developing a similar feature for their apps that will almost certainly be available to both of the mobile OS platforms from launch, which will pose another threat to Clubhouse's long-term viability, especially on Android.

Those in the US can download the Clubhouse app on the Play Store right now while non-US residents can pre-register via the app listing to be notified as soon as the app is available in their location. It's still an invite-only system, so you'll need to know a current Clubhouse user to get an invite, even if you can download the app.
