Leaked specs and images reveal almost everything about the mid-range Motorola Defy 2021

Motorola's ruggedized Defy series looks to be making a comeback as leaked renders and specifications reveal, well, almost everything about the handset. Called the Motorola Defy 2021, the rugged smartphone boasts IP68 water and dust protection, a Snapdragon 662 processor, a big 5,000mAh battery, and 20W TurboPower charging.

The leaked images and specifications come from Evan Blass on Twitter, reveal a rear panel with the words Dust, Water, Drop, and Proof emblazoned at the bottom. Under the hood is the aforementioned Snapdragon 662 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 6.5-inch HD+ display, and a USB-C charging port. The 5,000mAh battery should be good for multi-day usage and has 20W TurboPower fast-charging.

Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, the ability to be washed with soaps and disinfectants, and a programmable button for push-to-talk mode. It's running Android 10 out of the box which is a little naughty on Motorola's part seeing that Android 11 was officially released on September 8th last year. The Motorola Defy 2021 is obviously not a phone you'll be buying for the speedy updates.

A 48MP main rear camera is accompanied by a pair of 2MP sensors for Macro and Depth functions, while the 8MP selfie camera sits in a teardrop notch on the display.

In terms of hardware, the Defy is similar to the Moto G9 Play so hopefully, it won't be too different in pricing when it's launched.
