The first Android 12 Developer Preview is live with both factory images and OTA files available to download and now we have the timeline for when we can expect further builds and the beta program to begin before the public release sometime in Q3 of 2021.

As you can see from the image above, we can expect another couple of Developer Preview builds before a beta program is announced sometime during April, provided that everything goes as planned.

Above you can see the milestones upon which each new build will be released, with the Developer Previews obviously concentrating on the framework and APIs. Google expects to ship Beta 4 of Android 12 during August, which should bring platform stability to the software.
When will we see the final release of Android 12? That's a tricky question to answer. Android 11 was officially released on September 8th in 2020, so we may see a similar timeline depending on when Google decides to announce the next Pixel handset.
