Motorola Razr

When it comes to folding smartphones of the clamshell variety, you have two choices – Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip that has been warmly received by reviewers, and the Motorola Razr that tried to trade on nostalgia and got it wrong somehow. Anyhow, if the Razr is the foldable phone that revs your motor, you can save a hefty $500 off its RPP directly from Motorola's online store.

For a dollar short of a thousand smackeroos you can pick up Motorola's folding smartphone in black or gold color schemes, although it should be noted that it will still be locked to Verizon, so there's that to keep in mind.

To refresh your memory, the Razr is powered by the decidedly last-generation Snapdragon 710 processor that is accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. The external 2.7-inch panel has 600 x 800 resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio while the 6.2-inch pOLED inner panel sports 2142 x 876 HD resolution in 21:9 Cinemavision aspect ratio. A terrifyingly small 2,510mAh battery stores the juice with support for 15W TurboPower fast-charging. There's a 16MP main camera on the exterior with a 5MP selfie camera in the inside of the phone.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy the Razr at its reduced price of $999 if it's the folding phone that makes your heart go Klipperty-Klopp, but I will say this, meeting your hero often ruins the memories you hold dear. Sometimes it's best to move on, or in this case, either save up a little more for the Galaxy Z Flip or at least wait for the second-generation handset later this year.
