Android TV doesn't always get priority on updates and new app features, but it's still always nice to see. Spotify has dropped a pretty big overhaul of their Android TV application on the Play Store, delivering a much more polished UX while you jam out on your TV.
Spotify on Android TV
The new app is a little more image-heavy, but that makes it look quite a bit better compared to older versions. You'll get background images for artists and albums you've been listening to, and there's a whole new sidebar that helps you navigate the app and your library.
The Home tab is where everything starts, showing you your recently played music, daily mixes, radio stations, and everything else that you generally see when you launch the music streaming app. This also adds in the “Genres and Moods” option that wasn't previously available on Android TV.
The Search tab will let you search for music, which is pretty self-explanatory, and the Your Library tab displays your finely curated selection of music and playlists on Spotify. This also includes podcasts, if you've shifted over to Spotify for listening lately.
Settings is a little more barebones, but will let you turn the “Behind the Lyrics” feature on and off and toggle accounts.
It's a pretty nice looking update that should hopefully make your home theater listening a little more enjoyable. You can grab it from the Play Store.
