By now, you are probably well aware of the Coronavirus situation, both locally and around the world, and hopefully, everyone is taking extra special care of themselves and those around them. While washing hands for 30-seconds or longer is one of the ways that we can help prevent the spread of the disease, Samsung is doing something about the germ-ridden devices that we carry around with us everywhere. Yup, that's right, your smartphone. Those of us with a Galaxy smartphone, Watch, or even a pair of Buds, can get them disinfected at a Samsung Service Center or Experience Store free-of-charge in selected regions.

Instead of using harsh materials or abrasive chemicals to clean your device and possibly ruin it, Samsung will use UV-C light to removed bacteria, germs, and viruses without damaging the oleophobic coating on the display. The UV-C devices being used are produced by third-party companies and may differ in levels of effectiveness in each country.

The Galaxy Sanitizing Service, as it is known, is available in Samsung Service Centers and Experience Stores in the following 19 markets:

  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Croatia
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Japan
  • Republic of South Korea
  • Malaysia
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Pakistan
  • Peru
  • Poland
  • Russia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • United States
  • Ukraine
  • Vietnam

Samsung says it plans to roll out the cleaning service to the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Canada
  • Czechia
  • France
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Jordan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Latvia
  • Mexico
  • The Netherlands
  • Panama
  • Philippines
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • Taiwan
  • Thailand
  • UAE
  • United Kingdom

As mentioned, the Galaxy Sanitizing Service is being provided without cost to those of us in supported countries using a Galaxy Smartphone, Watch, or a pair of Buds.
