Netflix has updated its Chromecast app, at least as much as you can update any “app” on a Chromecast. It's a little less boring now, and feels a little more like a traditional Netflix interface despite being a more passive experience.
Netflix gets a new Chromecast app
You won't have to do anything special to get the new Netflix interface, aside from connecting to your Chromecast to see what's new.
The ambient screen that's waiting for you to select your movie or TV show now shows more stuff, including a rotation of other content on the service. You'll see stills from movies and descriptions and summaries to try and tempt you into watching a new Netflix original, but that's certainly better than just looking at a Netflix logo. Unfortunately, since it's a Chromecast app, there's no real quick way to jump into those recommendations. If you see something you like, you'll just have to search it up and cast it.
Everything else throughout the Cast experience is tweaked slightly, too, including some redesigned UI elements on the paused and buffering screens. These are very small changes, but appear to be small bits of polish to make Netflix look a little better even if you're just casting from another device.
Nothing huge, but we love these small changes that make a service better.
