In what may appear to be good news to some, it seems that Samsung is getting ready to end support for Bixby Voice on Galaxy handsets running on Android Nougat and Oreo from January 1, 2020. This means that in just over a month from now, you'll be unable to use Bixby Voice and Bixby Briefing depending on which device you are using. Fear not though, because this is a ploy on Samsung's part to nudge you into using Bixby 2.0.
According to SamMobile, the initial shutdown will affect the following handsets that may still be running on Android Nougat or Oreo:
The good news is that there are Android Pie updates available for all of the smartphones listed, which means that besides having access to Bixby 2.0, you'll also gain extra features, better security, and a newer aesthetic. Oddly enough, Galaxy Note 9 handsets still running on Android 8.1 Oreo aren't affected by Samsung's decision to end support for the older version of Bixby.
If your handset is one of those affected, remember to head to Settings, System, Software Updates and mash the Check for Updates button to see if your phone is eligible to update to a newer version of Android.
