The Google Pixel 4 has leaked pretty heavily over the last few months, but we might still get a surprise out of the announcement. A new report says that Google might be rolling out 5G hardware sometime soon, beating Apple to the punch and joining the 5G revolution with Samsung and Huawei.
The report doesn't specifically say when we can expect the device, but it does say that Google has been testing a 5G Pixel. I don't think we'll see the Pixel 4 XL rocking 5G or anything, but there could be a third model with 5G. Since the report doesn't perfectly pin down timing, it could be something that Google actually rolls out in November or December, even if it gets mentioned at their hardware event next week.
It could also be something that Google decides to push early next year with the Pixel 4a, if they continue that trend. A “budget” 5G phone would be odd, but hey, Samsung's done it, so why can't Google?
Take it all with a grain of salt, but maybe Google does still have some stuff hidden away to wow us on October 15th.
