Earlier this year you probably heard about the Motorola One Zoom; it was a leaked high-end phone from Motorola and Lenovo that packed in quad-cameras on the back with some impressive image processing capabilities. Up to this point it's just been a rumor, but now it looks like it's being prepped for an IFA 2019 unveiling, and we're getting an early look.
However, it won't be the Motorola One Zoom. That's reportedly just a name that got messed up in a spec sheet or in translation somewhere. Instead, the phone will actually be called the Motorola One Pro, but will otherwise be the same phone we've been hearing about.
You're getting four cameras on the back with quad-pixel technology and a 48-megapixel main camera. You won't be getting 48-megapixel photos out of the phone, though, (can you imagine how much space that would eat up?) but instead a 12-megapixel shot that's created from all four of the phone's lenses stitching together their shots to capture as much detail as possible. That should result in improved sharpness, contrast, low-light performance, and more. Obviously some of those other lenses will be able to take wide-angle and zoom shots, too, which is very common in current smartphones.
Other specs include a 6.2-inch notched display with an in-screen fingerprint scanner, a USB C charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Things like processor and RAM are still unknown, but it looks like a semi-premium device so I wouldn't expect less than a Snapdragon 600 series chip. The rumor expects the price to start at €429, which isn't too tough on the wallet.
Either way, we'll know more about this at IFA later this year.
