Sharing files, images, and documents to nearby Android devices isn't the most user-friendly of features. The experience has been clunky since appearing in Ice Cream Sandwich but that could soon change because Google is developing an alternative called ‘Fast Pair.'

The Fast Share feature was enabled on a Pixel 3 XL running the Android Q beta, but it will likely come to other versions of Android since it is present in Google Play Services. Much like the Instagram-style effects coming to Android Messages, it isn't known when the Fast Share feature will be officially announced.
Frankly, it's crazy how we are looking forward to Android Q being released in 2019 while we make do with the sub-par experience offered by the current system sharing menu that has been present since 2011. Still, we finally have the new, hopefully, much-improved Fast Share to look forward to in just a few months time.
