Bringing Italian Automotive Legends to Film
Bobby Moresco, who won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Crash in 2004, directs Maserati: The Brothers. Moresco has continued to explore the lives of iconic automotive figures, including his earlier work, Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend. The project is produced by Andrea Iervolino, who heads this ongoing biopic series focused on Italian automotive history.
A Star-Filled Cast and Notable Collaboration
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter last year, Pacino takes on the role of Vincenzo Vaccaro, a devoted supporter and early investor in the Maserati family, who helped back the dynasty from its earliest days. Filming for the second part of the movie began in Rome in June 2026, with a release planned for this fall.
Pacino is joined by Gina La Piana and Tatiana Luter, along with Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, Jessica Alba, Michele Morrone, and Salvatore Esposito. This is the second time Pacino and Hopkins have appeared together on screen, following their earlier collaboration in 2016's Misconduct (originally titled Manipulations in French markets). Morrone and Esposito portray the Maserati brothers, Alfieri and Ettore, while Hopkins plays a key financier from the era.
Classic Cars Recreated for the Big Screen
The Guardian reported earlier this year that the production team built several Maserati replicas for the film, faithfully echoing models from the 1920s and 1930s. These vintage recreations help capture the authentic look and feel of the Maserati brothers’ heyday—sure to draw in auto enthusiasts and history buffs.
Al Pacino: Still Working at the Top
Despite being 86, Pacino has stayed active. In August 2025, he appeared in David Midell’s exorcism film, The Ritual: The Exorcism of Emma Schmidt. He also has five other completed projects awaiting release, including the historical drama Lear Rex and Father Joe, written by Luc Besson.
For those looking to catch Pacino’s recent work, you can stream Hunters on Prime Video. The series follows a group determined to track down and eliminate Nazis, and features a main cast including Logan Lerman, Lena Olin, Josh Radnor, and Carol Kane.
