We've expected a Redmi value flagship ever since the brand was spun off from Xiaomi, finally the company has just teased its imminent announcement sporting a popup selfie camera.
Redmi used to be Xiaomi's focused budget brand for the <$250 bracket and more, however after they were split off as their own entity a few months ago there has been great speculation that they may be gearing up to go big with a premier value flagship ‘king', attacking the market head-on like the OnePlus One did back in 2014.
Well, today Redmi finally confirmed they are working on a bezelless, budget flagship with a popup camera, but refrained from revealing any more in the lead up to a full announcement (probably following some more teasers) at some point soon.
News of new competitors in the value realm, going up against the likes of Meizu and Xiaomi, and OnePlus to an extent, is always exciting; however Redmi is especially so given their track record of great value hardware already.
Based on Redmi's history, we should expect a Snapdragon 855 paired with 6/8GB of RAM, 64/128GB of ROM, a 6.2-6.4″ 1080p+ display, dual 48MP + 5-13MP rear cameras and a 3500-4000mAh for around $400, and I can't wait.
