Following official confirmation of OnePlus' new phone's 90hz display, the company has revealed that DisplayMate has already given the display its best ever A+ rating.
Following the company's constant teasing of their two new devices, particularly the more expensive ‘Pro' model with its pop-up selfie camera and ‘smooth' display, OnePlus has now just let DisplayMate tease the Pro model's display's quality with the announcement that it has the highest rating ever – even beating the current Samsung Galaxy S10 champion.
Given the panel is essentially confirmed to be a 1440p+ Samsung AMOLED with a 90hz refresh rate (versus the standard 60hz), it would make sense for it to get a huge rating given the only other mobile devices with high refresh rates use IPS panels and thus lose the other AMOLED benefits, and thus the OnePlus 7 Pro would be the only phone gaining that high-refresh kudos.
The expected OnePlus 7 Pro specifications include a Snapdragon 855, 8/12GB of RAM, 128/256GB of UFS3.0 (new and extremely fast) ROM, a 6.7″ 3120x1440p 90hz AMOLED display, and a 4000mAh battery.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is also going to be the most expensive OnePlus device by far though at $700+; not unreasonable given the expensive display and storage hardware, but nevertheless perhaps too high given it's unlikely the device will sport cameras or features, like waterproofing, to rival the competition its high price now puts it in competition with.
We'll see just how competitive OnePlus' expensive new phone, and it's smaller – perhaps equally notchless – sibling are on May 14th.
