OnePlus invites community members to participate in the Product Manager Challenge 4

OnePlus has a good reputation for being a company that invites community input and involvement in the process of making improvements to their products, including their OxygenOS operating system. For the next couple months they are stepping things up a bit with a contest dubbed the Product Manager Challenge to try to identify features that may not make it through the normal community input path. Modeled after the TV show Shark Tank, OnePlus is looking for the next big feature to be added to the operating system.

According to the post announcing the PMC, participants will be expected to go through the process that OnePlus uses internally when pitches are made to their product managers. This includes completing a product requirements document that addresses issues like who the targeted users are, what the proposed function of the new feature is, user value, and how the proposal is superior to comparable functions.

The questions reveal a little bit about what OnePlus values in the development cycle. Likewise, OnePlus shares the lenses that will be used to assess proposals, again providing a glimpse into the company's values:

  • Does it contribute to a burdenless experience?
  • How will it interact with other existing OS features?
  • What will the user experience be like and will this yield an “optimal user journey”?

As a bit of inducement, OnePlus says they will fly the winner to OnePlus launch event “for a VIP experience.” For more details and specific instructions, hit the source link below.
