Meizu announced a new phone that doesn't have any ports whatsoever 3

Meet the Meizu Zero, a phone from the Chinese manufacturer that doesn't have any ports. Seriously, it literally doesn't have any ports whatsoever; no headphone jack, no charging port, nothing. It's the natural next step after the death of the 3.5mm headphone jack. It also lacks any speaker holes or a SIM tray, opting instead for some futuristic tech to make the phone as minimalist as possible.

This phone is almost guaranteed to catch a ton of heat from power users and enthusiasts, and it probably won't set any sales records, but Meizu really did put some new tech to work to bring the Zero to life.

No headphone jack is something that everyone else has already dabbled in, but the lack of a charging port means you're exclusively going to use wireless charging and WiFi to juice up your phone and transfer files to other devices. The lack of traditional speakers sees the phone using its display to create sound, which is also a pretty rare thing that we've seen in just a few other phones, and without a physical SIM you'll be using eSIM to get this activated on your carrier of choice.

Meizu is also using haptic sensitive buttons on its edges instead of physical buttons, and the fingerprint scanner is underneath the screen. It's peak 2019.

All of those features (or lack thereof) will probably overshadow the rest of the specs of the phone, but it's a pretty solid device otherwise. A Snapdragon 845 is powering the Meizu Zero, and it uses a 5.99-inch QHD OLED display. Don't expect to see a massive worldwide release, but keep an eye out for other OEMs following suit.
