Huawei has announced the Nova 4, a phone with two pretty distinctive features. The megapixel count on the camera is an insane 48 megapixels, which is pretty crazy on its own, but the Nova 4 also features a hole in the display for the front-facing camera to keep up with Samsung.
There are a lot of familiar Huawei design decisions with the Nova 4, including a gradient color finish on the back of the phone and a triple camera layout. The major difference comes from the front of the phone which has a display without a notch, opting instead for a small hole cutout for the front-facing camera. It's still not quite edge-to-edge, as the screen doesn't fully reach the bottom of the phone, but hey, at least there's no notch.

The Nova 4 has a Kirin 970 CPU paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, so it's a fairly solid performer, especially when paired with that camera setup. There's a 48-megapixel main shooter along with a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensing camera. All of this is coming in at under the equivalent of $500 USD.
We probably won't be seeing this device in too many countries around the world besides China, but this is a good look at the direction most phones will be taking in 2019.
