Roku has announced an update to their current lineup of streaming sticks and devices, and they're now aggressively priced as some of the cheapest 4K devices ever. I don't want to say they're definitely the cheapest on the market because I'm sure there are some knockoff brands that can undercut it, but a 4K Roku for $39.99 is insane.
The Roku Premiere now occupies the $40 spot for Roku's lineup, offering a very compact, tiny form factor and 4K playback support. The only real sticking point is the 11bgn wireless, which means no AC wireless support. When you're streaming 4K, that hurts. However, you're still getting Roku's nifty shortcut remote with batteries and an HDMI cable included, so that's a big plus.
Add an extra $10 and you'll get the Walmart exclusive Roku Premiere+ which upgrades the remote to include volume buttons and voice control. Otherwise, specs are identical.
Lastly, Roku is updating the Roku Ultra at $99, still offering ethernet connectivity and high-speed wireless support, but now Roku is bundling some JBL headphones in the box to improve your media experience. Not bad at all.
If you're interested, all of these devices will be available beginning early October.
