Samsung pushes out firmware update for Galaxy Note 8 with camera improvements and security patches 4

The Galaxy Note 8 was officially announced last month at an Unpacked event held in New York, with preorders going live on August 24th. With the official release date of September 15th coming up in just a couple of days time, Samsung is rolling out a day one update for the Galaxy Note 8 that includes some optimizations and improvements.

The firmware update rolling out carries build number N950FXXU1AQI1 and includes some unspecified camera improvements as well as the September Android security patch plus Samsung's own additions, as detailed here. As to what improvements Samsung has made to the camera's software, who knows because the handset maker has chosen to keep the details to itself with no specifics mentioned in the change log.

It's good to see Samsung rolling out the update to just smooth things over for the new Galaxy Note 8 owners who have already begun receiving their new smartphones, despite the official date being a few days away. If you are still on the fence on whether to buy Samsung's latest flagship, why not check out its specifications out before making an informed decision. As a sweetener, Samsung is still offering a choice of free accessories when you pre-order the Galaxy Note 8.

If you already have your Galaxy Note 8 and have received the update, let us know in the comments if you've noticed anything new, or indeed, if something has gone a little wonky since applying the new firmware.

  1. Receiving my update now over T-Mobile. I have noticed some Bluetooth pairing issues where pairing would not complete. Restarting the phone resolves, but it has happened to me twice out of 5 pairing attempts. Hoping the update corrects this issue.
