Samsung Galaxy J3 and Galaxy J7 joining the unlocked Samsung Portfolio 3

Samsung continues to expand the unlocked devices they make available with the latest additions to their portfolio being the Galaxy J7 and the Galaxy J3. Both of these devices fall into the budget category although Samsung claims they offer “high performance” for their price point. The new unlocked variants will be available starting later this week on July 28th through Samsung.com, major retailers and “enterprise distributors.”

For those not familiar with the Galaxy J series devices, you get the following hardware. For the Galaxy J7, Samsung equipped the smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD TFT screen powered by a Snapdragon 617 processor and 2GB of RAM. The device is equipped with only 16Gb of memory, but a microSD slot is available for expansion. The Galaxy J7 comes equipped with an 8MP camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The battery is rated at 3300mAh.

Stepping thing down another notch, the Galaxy J3 has a 5.0-inch HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor matched with 1.5GB of RAM. The Galaxy J3 gets the same 16GB of storage and has a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. The battery in the Galaxy J3 is only 2600mAh is size.

The specs may not impress, but the Galaxy J series phones do have the benefit of favorable price points. The unlocked versions will start at a retail price of $219.99 for the Galaxy J7 and $149.99 for the Galaxy J3.
