One of the faces of Motorola has been Punit Soni, the vice president of product management. Since Google took over the company, Soni has remained active in letting everyone know what great things Motorola has developed. He has been behind the company's rebirth with the Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, and all of their unique software enhancements. Today, Punit Soni announced that he is leaving Motorola.

This is some of what Soni had to say about his time at the company:

“I still remember the first time I went to Libertyville, Illinois to visit the Motorola Campus. There was this sense of awe at being in a company whose invention, the cell phone, would forever change the world.

For the next couple of years, we worked hard to marry the agility of a modern internet services company with the legacy of the greatest telecommunications company in the world. We crafted a new portfolio of products, we rebuilt our software stack, we launched the Moto X, then G and then E. Motorola is now firmly on the path of regaining its place as one of the most relevant companies of the mobile era.”

Soni expressed gratitude in the lessons obtained by a number of Motorola and Google employees. This included current Motorola CEO Rick Osterloh, who taught Soni “more about being a leader than anyone ever has.” Other notable people mentioned were Dennis Woodside and Vic Gundotra.

A specific reason for his departure was not given. However, there is speculation that he left just in time to avoid any possible changes that Lenovo would impose once the acquisition is complete.

We look forward to seeing what Punit Soni does next.
