It is no secret that HTC is preparing a “selfie-phone” called the HTC Eye for users who really like pictures of their own face. Up until today, very little was known about the Eye, but thanks to renowned leaker @upleaks, that is no longer the case. Much like the recently released HTC One M8 for Windows, the Eye will allegedly look and feel identical to HTC's flagship, the HTC One M8.
The big difference is that the Eye is expected to use the same front-facing 8-megapixel camera as the Desire 820, taking selfies to a new level. HTC is expected to announce the Eye at their upcoming press event on October 8th in New York. No word on pricing yet, but as soon as we know, so will you. Let us know in the comments section if an upgraded front-facing camera is enough to sell you on the HTC Eye.

I really think 5 megapixels is adequate for taking photos of yourself… Most people don’t care about resolution. Look at iphone users they’ve had 1.2 megapixels on their front facing cameras and their as happy as all get out… Htc has a five meg camera with baked in software to tweak the image to your hearts content… Its all about brand recognition really. Htc needs to work on building theirs. They need to become the American Eagle of smartphones… Ok maybe that wasn’t the best analogy, but you get what I mean.
I find my Note 3 takes better front and back pictures and videos than this M8, so if its otherwise identical it’s a waste of a phone launch IMO. The cameras have terrible exposure compensation and flaring tendencies, the noise reduction and sharpening algorithms are beyond terrible. It does this in video as well. Recorded some video this morning and I’m kicking myself for not just using the Note 3 instead.
Also the camera app is a usability nightmare with way too much craps buried (emphasis) in menus.
It has some nice filters built in, though.
Thats why we each have opinions Anonguy. Funny how Sammy boys always find themselves under the HTC discussions.
I own a One M8. And a Note 3. How does that make me a Samsung Boy, troll.
