Samsung and Barnes & Noble launched the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook earlier today at a New York City event. As expected, it is a Galaxy Tab 4 repackaged with Nook-only software in addition to what Samsung traditionally offers. There are no hardware differences between this device and the original.
The software is the difference maker here as Barnes & Noble has included what it calls the Nook Advantage to create a better value. The specific Galaxy Tab 4 Nook features that are exclusive include Nook Today, Nook Shop, and a quick access button on the bottom left of the home screen to jump right into whatever reading content — books, magazines, newspapers — you left off with. There are also traditional hubs for newspaper/magazine and video content. If you are not satisfied, breathe easy as the Play Store is pre-loaded on the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook (unlike Amazon's devices).
