You know things are getting serious when “mini” versions of phones sport a 5-inch display. The LG G3 Beat (D728) was just introduced in China (to the left in the above picture), and the speculation is that it will end up being marketed globally as the G3 Mini.

The “regular” G3 sports a 5.5-inch display, but the G3 Beat comes in at 5-inches. Yes, it is smaller, but I never thought I would see the day that a 5-inch device could be referred to as a “mini.”

The rest of the specs definitely fall into the mini category as in mid-level. The display itself is IPS LCD and has a resolution of only 720p (1280 x 720). The rest of the specs include a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (probably a 400), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera with laser autofocus, 2MP front-facing camera, 2,540 mAh battery, dual-SIM support, support for QuickCircle covers, and Android 4.4.2.
