1 billion active users on Android, tablet presence impresses

How active users are roaming the world with the Android platform? 1 billion. That same figure sat around 500 million over one year ago. He was quick to point out that tablets are a big part of Android's growth and user base.

Last year, Android tablets consumed 46% of the global market share for that form factor. This year, that number has exceeded expectations and reached 62%. These numbers do not account for devices with forked versions of Android such as Amazon's Kindle Fire line.

And Android tablet users are installing applications at a very quick pace. Compared to 2013, Android tablet application installs has skyrocketed 236%. In the past, Android tablet rivals have called out the platform's tablet experience because it resembled stretched smartphone apps. That does not seem to be the case and apparently users have no problem with the selection in Google Play.
