Honor has locked in July 2, 2026 as the UK launch date for the Magic V6, its flagship foldable smartphone. The device made its global debut at MWC in March and has been one of the more anticipated foldables to make the jump to the UK market, not least because the Magic V5 set a high bar and left people genuinely curious about where Honor would go next.

What's New Over the V5

The V6 isn't trying to reinvent anything, instead it's targeting the specific annoyances that lingered. The inner display crease has been reduced by 44% compared to the V5, courtesy of a reinforced UTG layer and a redesigned hinge structure that holds the panel flatter when open. That was always the thing that made you feel slightly self-conscious, unfolding it in public, so it's a meaningful fix. The V6 is also the first foldable to carry both IP68 and IP69 ratings, putting it well ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 7's IP48 certification — and significantly ahead of where foldables were even two years ago.

On the hardware side, the chip steps up to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and the global model ships with a 6,660mAh battery — a massive jump that makes the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 4,400mAh cell look like a rounding error. Charging hits 80W wired, compared to Samsung's 25W, which is the kind of gap that tends to matter when you're actually living with the phone day to day. The camera setup pairs a 200MP main sensor with a periscope telephoto, and both the outer and inner displays now support stylus input.

How It Stacks Up

The premium foldable market is more competitive than it's ever been. We've already reviewed the Oppo Find N6, which makes a strong case for itself in the same space. Honor is aiming directly at Samsung with the Magic V6, positioning it as thinner, more durable, and more aggressively priced — undercutting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 by around 47% at Chinese launch pricing. UK pricing will likely look different, but if Honor maintains anything close to that value positioning, it will be hard to ignore.

The outer display stretches to 6.52 inches at 6,000 nits peak brightness, with the inner screen opening up to 7.95 inches at 5,000 nits. Both panels use LTPO 2.0 OLED with variable 1-120Hz refresh rates. Full UK pricing and retail availability are expected closer to the July 2 date. We've requested a review unit and will have hands-on coverage ahead of launch.
