Artemis is launching a new product, called pCell™, which will solve the problem of a slow wireless service, especially in congested areas. The pCell technology connects overlapping signals to avoid interference. A new type of wireless antenna, called pWave, produces a small “bubble” of wireless connectivity around every device.
“pWave radios transmit signals that deliberately interfere with each other, combining to synthesize tiny pCells, each just one cm in size.
Every mobile device has its own pCell, a “Personal Cell,” each getting the full spectrum capacity.“
In a demonstration video, Steve Perlman, the inventor of pCell technology and the creator of OnLive, uses eight iPhones and a range of other devices to demonstrate his technology. He played HD movies on all the devices and to my surprise, the movies played on all the devices without any delay.
With this technology, someone with a mobile device will be able to access the internet at full data speed, regardless of how many people are using the network. The company is planning to test its technology later this year in San Francisco and claims the antennas will be “ready for first commercial deployment in one market at the end of 2014, expanding to major markets in the US, Asia and Europe starting in 2015.”
