The new music streaming service by music producers Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine delayed the start of an AT&T family plan by 5 days, apparently because of overwhelming demand for the service.
The AT&T family plan, which is set to be $15 per month, will now begin on January 31, despite the fact that it was scheduled to start yesterday. This delay will also slow down a massive marketing scheme by Beats Music that is aiming to challenge Spotify, which is currently the worlds biggest music streaming service with 6-million paying customers.
The AT&T family plan will begin with a 90 day free trial period before charges will begin to appear on monthly bills. There is also an individual plan, which will cost $10 per month, and start with a one month trial period.
Update – 1/28/14 1:30pm – AT&T contacted us for further clarification. The AT&T Family Plan is actually already available. The only “delay” is the marketing effort that will take place in stores and other channels. As you know, the Beats service has server issues, so if you're lucky enough to have an account with an AT&T device, you will be able to sign up for the plan.
