The Motorola Droid Bionic will be delayed again

The Droid Bionic is one of the most anticipated phones, but I am starting to wonder if it will live up to the hype. We have been expecting it to launch on August 4, but according to a Sam’s Club document, it will be in September.

Nothing is confirmed, but I am not expecting it to land on August 4th because I it is likely Verizon and Motorola will hold a major press event to announce the phone, which is likely to be at least 2 weeks before the release. Right now there is nothing scheduled.

I also expect them to launch a major Twitter campaign like they have done with most of the top Droid phones. This will be the biggest Droid release to date so we should expect the same. Even if they don’t do a press event, they will at least run the Twitter campaign, and until that begins, there is no need to start lining up at your nearest Verizon store. The Droid Charge campaign started 8 days before the launch so we need to see something by this Wednesday. I know a lot of people want to believe the August 4 date, especially since some accessories were leaked at Amazon, but I am not holding my breath.

Also to note, the LG Thrill is showing as late July, but we reported earlier that all signs point to August 7, and the Samsung Conquer was originally expected to launch yesterday, but it has been pushed to August. The Motorola Photon seems to still be on track for July 31, which was officially announced by Sprint.

If you are going to regurgitate information, then at least come close to the article that you are referecing. The push back to September is for Sams Club, not general launch. Of course I could be wrong, but normally Sam’s Club do not get the hot phones on launch date. They get it a little later.

I said it was about Sam’s Club, but I still have a right to my opinion that it will be delayed for everyone. September is 30 days. What if Sam’s Club gets it on September 29, but the official launch was September 8th?

    Robert –

I have no problem with your opinion on this. The only problem I had was that your headline was a definite delay to the conventional guess of when the Bionic will be released. Not a possible delay from the information.

I should have articulated that better, and I apologize for not saying that exactly instead of being too generic. I was in a rush for time at work, and should have left it up until I had a little more time.

Your point of the launch being early September, and Sam’s club late September is also valid and something I didn’t think of.

    Have a good day

Curt his headline is flat out misleading. Robert you headline states as fact the bionic will be delayed. Yes you guess could be right about the end of September but it is equally fair to say Sam’s Club will get the device the beginning of Sept matching the delayed time frame the typically receive a new release.

This is nothing more than typical tabloid type posturing and really doesn’t belong in any serious blog.

Robert, change the title. This is very misleading at first glance. Curt is very right… it comes off as advising the Droid Bionic’s public release will be delayed for everyone.

I saw a twitter account with the username MDB228 that looks like it could be for the Bionic since that will be the Model number. I do not know if it is official or not, but it’s worth checking out.

The above assumed specs are somewhat wrong. Leaked pics of bionic’s camera clearly read ‘1080p hd’ & since moto photon has 1gig ddr2 ram & expandable memory up to 48 gigs (as advertised on the commercial), the bionic is sure to have at least as much memory. Think about it…there’s no secret to photon’s KILLER specs so why such secrecy about bionic’s? It’s specs are most likely even better!
