A previously leaked retailer entry for the Sony Xperia XZ3 suggested the new Sony handset would come equipped with a typical dual-sensor setup for the rear camera. However, an alleged benchmark entry that just surfaced suggests Sony may use their newly announced 48MP image sensor in the Xperia XZ3.
A screenshot that was grabbed from GFXBench lists the camera for the Xperia XZ3 as a single sensor at 47MP with support for 4K video. That matches closely with Sony's new IMX586 image sensor that was just announced earlier this week. Although it would be a single sensor, the massive image size will likely put the Xperia XZ3 close to the top, if not the top, of the market when it comes to smartphone camera performance. One caveat though – sources have not confirmed the GFXBench entry.

Some of the other specs for the Xperia XZ3 include a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 12MP front-facing camera. The handset appears to be ready to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo.
The Xperia XZ3 is expected to be announced at IFA 2018 in Berlin at the end of August and units will hopefully be ready to start shipping not long after that.
