If you've been refreshing Software Update on a Galaxy S25 for the past two weeks, the wait is nearly over. Samsung has started taking One UI 9 beyond its newest phones, with the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 next in line. Here's where every Galaxy phone stands right now, and what's still up in the air.
Which Galaxy phones already have One UI 9?
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 got there first, shipping with One UI 9 out of the box after Galaxy Unpacked in July. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra followed on September 16, when Samsung announced the start of its official stable rollout.
That update brings a long list of features we covered in our One UI 9 breakdown. Highlights include My FanCam subject tracking in video, a smarter Now Brief, Now Nudge suggestions, and structured summaries in Voice Recorder. It's all built on Android 17, which, as Android Police points out, Google's Pixel phones have been running for around three months.
Galaxy S25, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7 are next
Samsung Thailand has confirmed that the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 start receiving One UI 9 from September 28, as spotted by Notebookcheck. That's a Thai schedule, not a global one, and Samsung hasn't published dates for the US, UK, or Europe yet.
Samsung's regional rollouts usually land close together, so US and UK owners shouldn't be left waiting long. If you'd rather not wait at all, according to Gadget Hacks, the One UI 9 beta is open in the US, UK, India, and Korea through the Samsung Members app. It covers the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 FE, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7.
The Galaxy S23 FE has a date too
In a slightly surprising twist, the Galaxy S23 FE also appears on Samsung Thailand's schedule, penciled in for October. That puts a 2023 midrange phone ahead of the Galaxy S24 series, which still hasn't been given a date.
Which other Galaxy phones should get One UI 9?
Samsung hasn't published a full eligibility list, but its update promises make most of it easy to work out, and Android Police has pieced together the likely lineup. These Galaxy devices should all be in line, with no dates attached yet:
- Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE
- Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5
- Galaxy A57, A56, A55, A54, A37, A36, A35, A34, A26, A25, A24, A17, A16, A15, and A07
- Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S10, and Tab S9 series, plus the Tab A11 and Tab A9+
- Galaxy XCover7 and XCover7 Pro
For the S23 lineup and the Fold5 and Flip5, this will be their last major Android upgrade. Samsung usually works through its newest devices first, so older A-series phones will likely be waiting until toward the end of the year.
Which Galaxy phones miss out?
The Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S21 FE won't get One UI 9. Both launched on Android 12 with four Android upgrades promised, and Android 16 was their final major update.
When will my Galaxy get One UI 9?
If you own a Galaxy S25 or last year's foldables, the wait is almost over, and the beta is there if you can't hold on. S24 and older foldable owners are next in the queue, but we're still waiting on Samsung to put dates on the rest of the list.
It'll be worth watching how quickly the US and European rollouts follow Thailand's, and whether the S23 FE keeps its October slot. Either way, if you bought a Galaxy flagship in 2023 or later, One UI 9 is coming; the only question is when.
