Ask not what Gmail can for do for you, but what you can do for your Gmail account so it can do even more for you. Google launched Gmail Add-ons earlier which promises to boost your productivity and workflow across the web and Android. Users of the Developer Preview will be familiar with the feature which has been fleshed out with more partners and additional add-ons in the pipeline.

Getting started is simple, just select the settings wheel on your Gmail and click “Get Add-ons” to view the list of Add-ons available on the G Suite Marketplace, which includes Asana, DialPad, Hire (By Google), Intuit QuickBooks Invoicing, ProsperWorks, RingCentral, Smartsheet, Streak, and Trello, with DocuSign listed as coming soon.

For the moment, the Gmail Add-ons are only available on the web and on Android, although Google is working on bringing the functionality to users on iOS at an unspecified time. Both Gmail users and G Suite users can check out the G Suite Marketplace to scope out the Gmail Add-ons. Developers can create add-ons by writing the add-on code which will then run natively on both the web and on Android, and presumably iOS as well once it is supported.

Imagine never having to leave your Gmail inbox to save contact details, produce invoices, or to even hire someone. The small amount of time needed to check which add-on  Gmail Add-ons could well save you a lot of time.
