T-Mobile slaps name on Las Vegas’ new arena

Starting in less than three months, thousands of people daily will be seeing the T-Mobile name and brand in Las Vegas. The city’s multi-purpose arena developed and co-owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and MGM Resorts International will be known as T-Mobile Arena. The carrier signed multi-year agreement to have its name, signature magenta color, and other brand-related items stamped on the facility’s exterior and spread throughout its interior.

Located just west of the Las Vegas Strip, T-Mobile Arena will get attention from those at the neighboring New York-New York and Monte Carlo hotel and casinos in addition to the millions exploring Sin City annually.

Being that the carrier is disruptive in the wireless industry, the arena’s co-owners expect similar behavior after selling naming rights to T-Mobile. Customers will get exclusive benefits:

T-Mobile customers will get unique benefits like a dedicated fast-track VIP venue entrance at every event. At select events, they can access event tickets and premium VIP experiences reserved exclusively for T-Mobile customers, pre-sales and seat upgrade opportunities.

Visitors who aren’t T-Mobile customers will still get to enjoy charging stations in the arena’s concourse.

Wondering if the other three major carriers in the United States are sponsoring venues like this? Of course they are! Sprint, who resides in Kansas’ Overland Park, sponsors the nearby Sprint Center in Kansas City. Verizon sponsors Arkansas’ Verizon Arena, but Big Red gets more exposure by having its name on the Verizon Center in the nation’s capital. AT&T sponsors three venues, two of which are in Texas. San Antonio’s AT&T Center and Dallas’ AT&T Stadium are located in the same state while AT&T Park is out west in San Francisco, California. T-Mobile Arena may be the carrier’s first sponsorship of a major venue, but T-Mobile chose the right one to start with.

T-Mobile Arena will open on April 6 when The Killers, Shamir, and Wayne Newton — Mr. Las Vegas himself — host the venue’s opening night concert. Other events already scheduled for T-Mobile Arena in 2016 include George Strait, Janet Jackson, UFC 200, and a UNLV basketball game.
