Several months ago, we heard the first whisper of a new mobile service that would decouple us from cell towers. By getting your phone to talk directly with satellites, you'd be able to use your phone in spots where you normally don't get cell service. T-Mobile was the leading carrier in that regard, though other carriers began to work on similar.
Now, today, T-Mobile has finally launched its satellite service, with Starlink as its essential collaborator. The service is called T-Satellite, and not only is it launching nationwide, but it is available for everyone to use, not just T-Mobile subscribers. I think that right there is the most impressive part. Let's talk about it.
T-Satellite Is Live and Ready to Go, No Matter Where You Are in the US

If you spend most of your time in residential areas, you're probably almost always within range of a cell tower. You never have to worry about being out of cellular service and not being able to reach people to let them know you're okay or ask for help. However, if you go on a lot of road trips, or you're the adventurous kind who hikes and camps a lot, then you're likely very familiar with being out of cell service.
T-Mobile's collaboration with Starlink, known as T-Satellite, is the solution to that problem, and it has just launched officially across the US. This service allows for a direct connection from a satellite to your smartphone, which means that as long as you have the open sky above you, you'll be able to stay connected to an extent, even if the closest cell tower is miles and miles away. It's the only carrier with a service fully launched.

At the moment, there are some limitations to T-Satellite, but you can actually do quite a bit with it in its current state:
- Send and receive texts
- Share your location
- Text 911
- Receive emergency alerts
- Picture and voice message on select smartphones
Which Smartphones Will Work With the New T-Satellite Service?

At the moment, you can't simply grab any phone and get it to work with T-Satellite. However, the company supports more than 60 devices from four major smartphone brands, so you should have a good chance of using this service. Here's a table with some of the eligible device models.
| Manufacturer | Eligible Device Series |
| Samsung | Galaxy S21 series and higher, Galaxy Z Flip/Fold 3 and higher, several Galaxy A models |
| Pixel 9 series | |
| Motorola | Razr (2024), Razr (2025), Moto G (2024), Moto G (2025), Moto Edge (2025) |
| Apple | iPhone 13 series and higher |
How Do I Buy T-Satellite Service?

Unsurprisingly, T-Mobile's satellite service isn't free (except in some specific cases). If you want to take advantage of the service, here's what you need to know:
- Experience Beyond and Go5G Next customers get the service included for free.
- Experience More customers who participated in the beta get it for free until the end of 2025.
- Other plans can add the service for a currently discounted price of $10 monthly (regular price is $15/month).
- Verizon and AT&T customers can get the service for a currently discounted price of $10 monthly, and will need to call customer support or visit a T-Mobile location.
