Sprint to make changes to services and repairs, soon to be cheaper to be clumsy

If you don’t have insurance on your Sprint phone, now is probably the time to get it. According to an inside source, Sprint will soon be announcing changes next week to their service and repair department, and it’s all good news. There’s two sets of rules in effect for these changes. The following applies if you do not have TEP (Total Equipment Protection) on your device for $7 / month:

  • Free software upgrades
  • Repair or Exchanges for 35$ due to:
    • Mechanical Electrical Error
    • Normal Wear and Tear
    • Missing Components
    • Cracked Housing/LCD
    • Broken Hinge/Port/Lenses
  • For those who are not under TEP and have such issues as a damaged circuit board, liquid damage/corrosion, a smashed device in 3+ parts, or a stolen/lost device they will either have to Upgrade or purchase a new device at MSRP

However, if you do pay the $7 / month for TEP, you get the following:

  • Free software upgrades
  • Repair or Exchanges for Free due to:
    • Mechanical Electrical Error
    • Normal Wear and Tear
    • Missing Components
    • Cracked Housing/LCD
    • Broken Hinge/Port/Lenses
  • a $50/$100 Claim via Asurion (Insurance Provider) for Damaged beyond repair devices such as ones with a damaged circuit board, liquid damage/corrosion, or a smashed device in 3 or more pieces. And anyone with a lost or stolen device will also get the same above $50/$100 Claim via Asurion

As stated before, if you don’t have TEP on your device, this is probably a good time to get it… just don’t drop your phone on concrete while dialing Sprint.
