Samsung has a big hold on the Android space with its smartphones, foldables, and smartwatches. In early 2024, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S24 launch, and the rest of the year should eventually bring us the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Watch 7 models.

However, this year will be very different as Samsung looks set to expand its dominance over the market, especially in the relatively lower price tiers. The S24, Z foldables, and the Galaxy Watch 7 are all expected to get FE models, which is definitely a new thing for the company.

Samsung Will Release Four FE Models This Year, By The Look Of Things

In 2017, Samsung released the Galaxy Note FE, where the FE stands for Fan Edition. Fan Edition phones bring a much lower price but try their best to maintain the essence of the model that they are FE-ing for. Since then, we've gotten several more FE devices, with one S23 and two Tab S9 FE models launched in October last year.

This year though, we may see an FE model for the S24, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Watch 7, which would mark the first time the company brings FE models to its foldables or smartwatches, and also the first time we may potentially get four FE models in a year.

Recent news breaking from Android Headlines confirms the existence of a third Galaxy Watch model for this year (which you might remember we reported on earlier), but now we know that this third model won't be a higher-tiered one, but instead, an FE model.

However, the watch is expected to be something like a relaunch for the Galaxy Watch 4, so don't expect cutting-edge specs, especially as it is meant to be a budget option. There's nothing known beyond that, but we can expect a similar design and specs (though it should come running on a newer version of Wear OS).

Galaxy S24 FE

The least surprising of the bunch is the S24 FE, as we've been seeing FE models for the mainline flagships for quite some time now. We do know that a certain company will be producing display driver ICs that seem to be for the phone in question, which is likely the biggest proof of its existence.

However, there have been leaks claiming the phone will come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (or an Exynos 2400), along with a brighter display, a 50MP, 12MP, and 8MP triple-cam combo, and up to a 12GB/256GB storage configuration. It should be available worldwide and should start at $599.

Z Flip FE And Z Fold FE

We've talked a lot about the rumors that there will be two Z Flip 6 and two Z Fold 6 models released this year, and it was clear that one of each was going to shed some of the more premium features for a more affordable price point. A leak out of China, if to be believed, finally gives each of these models names: the Z Fold FE and Z Flip FE — apparently dropping the numbers.

Some specs are blurred out, but while the Flip FE will come with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, the Z Fold FE will seem to have both a Snapdragon and Exynos option — the first time the latter will show up in a Galaxy foldable. There's been so much in dispute over these new foldables though, that you should take this with a healthy dose of salt.
