Remember when we said that Android tablets were in the news a lot lately?  This time, all the way from Germany, we’re bringing you the WeTab.  This device will run on not only Android, but Linux and Adobe Air as well, in addition to featuring USB ports and Flash.  From the WeTab website:

Its looks will leave you breathless, and its measures will drop your jaw.  Wait until you get it in your hands: The WeTab lays the world at your hands.  Browse the internet, watch movies, write e-mails, chat on Facebook – do whatever you want! You can even get some work done, if you absolutely must.

The WeTab will come in two different models: a 16 GB that runs on WiFi for 449 € ( roughly 575 US$) and a 32 GB with WiFi and 3G capability for 569 € (roughly 880 US$).  Both devices will boast an 11.6 inch screen that will function in both portrait and landscape mode.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet regarding a US release, but you can check out more information on the official WeTab website.

Both prices in germany are inclusive Tax, so in US you can subtract 19 % of the price in euro.

I’m happily coming from south-western Germany, but my parents – esp. my grandmother – have american ancestors. So I consider myself to be western European with a little bit Anglo-Saxon impact. Your thoughts about Germany seem to be a little bit pessimistic to me; I’d strongly believe, American people could learn a lot from how german society is handling its problems right now.
