Red Magic 5GThe Red Magic 5G is an unusual phone; it's got an eye-catching design and flagship-level hardware such as 12GB of RAM and Snapdragon 865 chipset but there are a few glaring omissions and glitches with the software and launcher. One of the more frustrating things for its owners when the phone first launched was the inability to swap to a third-party launcher such as LawnChair or Nova, thankfully this issue was fixed in a subsequent firmware update, and now I'm going to show you how to change your default launcher on the Red Magic 5G, step-by-step.

Before we get started, you'll need to choose which third-party launcher you want to install, I've included a brief selection (with Play Store links) below to get you started:

Now that you've installed a third-party launcher, we can get on with the task at hand.

Step 1

You'll need to open up Settings and then scroll down and tap on App Info.

You'll see the three hamburger dots in the top right corner, tap them and select Default App Settings

Tap on Desktop

The next step is to select which launcher you want to have as the default launcher on the Red Magic 5G

Step Five

[Guide] How to change default launchers on the Red Magic 5G 9Once you've chosen your preferred launcher, a notice will pop up warning you that third-party launchers are only compatible with Navigation Keys and not Gestures. If you are comfortable with this, tap on Agree. If you press the Home key you may be taken directly to your new home screen or to set up your chosen launcher app, don't forget to allow the necessary permissions such as the ability to create widgets that might pop up.
